A Guide to Volunteering
Volunteer applicants should be able to offer at least four hours a week of their time, to be worked between Monday and Friday 9am to 5pm. Although we may be able to offer out of hours opportunities, at the time of writing these are not regularly available.
Applicants should be motivated, reliable and have a positive regard for our service users. They should also be willing and able to abide by the policies and procedures of the project.
All volunteers will need to complete a local induction (an induction organised by the service where they are going to volunteer), to be held at a site in Wigan and Leigh. Volunteers must also attend a Trust Induction, to be held at Trust Headquarters, Prestwich.
Support and Supervision
To ensure that the correct training and support is provided, volunteers must access supervision every month (or as close to monthly as can practically be arranged). Supervision will usually be provided by the Voluntary Services Coordinator.
Volunteer meetings will also be held monthly, or as close to monthly as possible.
Volunteers are also expected to follow the Code of Conduct, which are the guidelines given to staff about how to behave at work. The Code of Conduct is covered in the local Induction and regularly revisited at supervisions and meetings.
A copy of the Volunteer Handbook and a Volunteer Application Form are available for your convenience, please contact Claire Rouse on 01942 827 979 should you require further information and advice about the volunteering Opporunities available at Street Based Services.
